Communit.y Services - Senior Citizens

Alliance on Aging - $50,000

Alliance on Aging provides multiple programs for seniors throughout Monterey County. This matching grant provided operating support for their programs.

Carmel Foundation $5,000

The Carmel Foundation was established in 1950 through voluntary efforts of a group of private citizens to support the health and well-being of seniors on the Monterey Peninsula. This grant assisted with related costs for their transportation program.

Legal Services for Seniors - $45,000

Legal Services for Seniors provides low cost or free legal help to more than 3,600 senior citizens each year. This matching grant was used for operating support of the Housing Protection and Advocacy program.

Meadow Harvest, Inc. - $4,000

This grant provided funding to offset the costs of providing low-priced meals for residents at Pacific Meadows, a senior retirement community in Carmel Valley.

Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley, Inc. - $50,000

This matching grant provided operating support to continue home-delivered meals for the homebound elderly and disabled in the Salinas area. Funding also provided operating support of the Rural Delivery Program. .

Monterey Bay Retired Senior Volunteer Service - $20,000

Monterey Bay Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides a variety of opportunities for persons aged 55 and over to participate more fully in the life of their community through significant volunteer service. This matching grant provided operating support to continue the volunteer program in Monterey County.

Prunedale Senior Center 25,000

This grant provided support to help provide hot meals and activities for seniors at their Prunedale facility.

Seniors Council of Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties - $40,000

The Foster Grandparents/Senior Companion program helps place senior volunteers throughout Monterey County in a variety of different community sites. A matching grant provided operating support for this program.

Young at Heart Project - $5,000

This grant provided operating support for their residential and convalescent programs, providing performances for seniors in extended care facilities throughout Monterey County.
